staring down the holiday lights
We went out into the night a couple nights back, seeking holiday lighting. From the ghosh to the elegantly designed spectacle, we and our dog traveled in the cold evening around Iowa City and Coralville by car. This was our first time with our dog and already we wondered what it might be like to have a place with our own fenced-in yard and driveway where the snow may collect, much like it did tonight in the warmer air. Our dog was unpeturbed by the beginning of winter. He drove us out into the cool damp air, dreading his refined red and black coat, when we force him into it. He lept and bounded forward, almost always into the wind for it is there where scents are served fresh. We trailed behind on his leash, anxious for a new home with our retired racer.
